More than a brow lift! A.J. – London June 2022
Mr Koutroumanos is incredible. I cannot recommend him enough. He performed a brow lift & an upper blepharoplasty on my eyes. He is extremely professional in a personable manner. He listened to my worries & concerns, nothing was too much trouble, he took time to explain what would happen before during & after my procedure. The results of my surgery have exceeded my expectations. I am extremely grateful to have had the pleasure of meeting this incredible surgeon. I really can’t thank you enough Nick
My Blepharoplasty Story – Sheyda, London February 2022
If I had to describe Dr Koutroumanos in three words they would be: a gentleman, a genius and a perfectionist.
I had been considering upper eyelid surgery for some time, but didn’t know who to trust with it. I wanted an oculoplastic surgeon specialising in eyelid surgery rather than a general cosmetic surgeon. After the initial consultation I felt very confident in my choice. I found Dr Koutroumanos on the St. John’s and St Elizabeth’s hospital website. Having been impressed by his experience and his resume I made an appointment for a consultation. From my first visit to see him until the present time I have been so pleased and so happy to have chosen him. The operation was performed under local anaesthetic, I felt absolutely no discomfort and no pain during or after the operation. My bruises were minimal and my eyelids looked great a week after surgery. My friends and family were astonished at the results and how amazing they were. I cannot thank Dr Koutroumanos enough. If I was to do this procedure again I would only choose him. My eyes look so young and now applying makeup is not an effort but so flattering.
I highly recommend him . You will be in the hands of a professional and a talented surgeon you can trust implicitly. Like I said he is a genius!
It’s only 6 weeks after my operation and I just want to thank Dr Koutromanous and his team for the excellent results and also thank his lovely secretary Elaine for being so kind and approachable throughout.

‘I researched online to find someone who combined ophthalmology with plastic surgery. From past skin cancer I realised that the tiny carcinoma next to my tear gland might have spread widely. I envisaged ending up with a large hole in my cheek.
Literally the moment I found Dr Koutroumanos a weight lifted from my shoulders. From our initial consultation I felt supported and he explained in honest detail what the two-part operation would entail. First a colleague of his performed Mohs surgery to excise the BCC, removing much of the lower eyelid and all the tear duct. Dr Koutroumanos then repaired the considerable wound and inserted a tiny silicone tear duct stent. His work was so intricate and skilled that friends and family were amazed at how good my appearance was after only a matter of days. By week six it is already remarkable how little cosmetic difference there is between both eyes, scars have almost disappeared and the new tear duct functions.
Nick is not only a master in his field but warm, reassuring and approachable. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

I met Dr Koutroumanos after having had 29 unsuccessful surgeries due to a medical error during my birth . I started to develop problems with my lower eyelid and tear-duct so I needed to see a specialist in this matter. After seeing 2 Consultant Ophthalmologists my hopes of getting better were diminished as they did not listen or consulted me .
Dr Koutroumanos was the first doctor in my 36 years of life who paid attention to my needs. I remember when I left his clinic I stopped on the corridor, shocked that someone finally paid attention and was so willing to help. His communication is absolutely brilliant.
The day of my surgery arrived and after I was able to stand up I was looking for a mirror. Every time i have had surgery I have opened up the dressing to see the results and have been so disappointed. Well did not happen this time – as I opened up the bandage and saw instantly the wonderful results that I had been waiting for for so long. I said wow and I started to cry, my tears celebrating a huge success, thanks to Dr K. Finally after 30 surgeries I am so happy and so grateful for everything he has done for me . The surgery was successful thanks to this wonderful human being who despite his professionalism , skills and knowledge is a very empathetic , caring person. Dr K can feel your drama, pain without too many words. I have never met such a doctor in my life and I have had vast experience since my birth. I really don’t know how to thanks him enough. Five stars is not enough to express my gratitude. Thank you for changing my life, i finally see the light in the dark tunnel.

Dr Koutroumanos is without doubt the best in his field.
He genuinely cares about his patients every step of the way .
I suffer with Graves’ disease which affected my eyes appearance significantly. However , I had 2 operations one for the upper lid to be lowered as it had became pulled back and for my lower lid which was dropping . Dr K not only got me looking back to my normal self again but the support he has even me emotionally on this difficult journey has been priceless.
You really can trust what he tells you as his knowledge in ophthalmology is beyond extensive.
He really is the best consultant any patient could wish for!

Dear Dr Koutroumanos
I’ve been worrying that I have not thanked you sufficiently for your excellent care and expertise over the last two years – maybe I have, but I thought I’d be happier if I put something in writing.
I can’t expect you to remember our first encounter. I had already had two skin cancers removed from my face, one surgically the other by radiotherapy. I then developed a third tumour, very close to my eye, and was in discussion with various specialists – all having different opinions about the best way forward. Your secretary then phoned wanting to make an appointment. I tried to put her off – thinking I could not cope with yet another specialism – but she was very firm (also kind) – this was a consultant to consultant referral, she said, and she really did need to make an appointment.
As soon as I met you I knew that you were someone I could talk to – no, that is not actually right, I’m not frightened of talking to consultants – it was more that I felt you would listen. You laughed when I said I was totally confused (I was also rather desperate) and said something along the lines of ‘yes, we are all inclined to think our way of doing things is the best way’. You suggested we speak to the lead dermatology consultant. Amazingly he was available, and we went to his office to discuss the matter. You then brow-beat (is that too strong an expression?) him into agreeing that Mohs surgery followed by eyelid reconstruction by you was a better option than more radiotherapy, which I was dreading. It must have played havoc with your clinic timings but you showed no sign of impatience. So I am everlastingly grateful.
You carried out that first procedure in July 2019. I was terrified, but you put me at ease and the result was excellent. During a follow-up appointment that November you said that you didn’t need to see me again, but then changed your mind and arranged a further appointment one year later. By then I had just developed what seemed to be a tiny spot in the corner of my other eye which I would probably have neglected but of course mentioned to you; it was another basal cell carcinoma. After a further Mohs procedure you carried out a second eyelid cancer reconstruction in February this year with equally excellent results.
The dermatologists tell me that I will almost certainly get more BCCs, and probably on my face. Of course, I hope that doesn’t happen, but if it does you may see me again. I know I will be in safe hands.
Thank you, thank you – and very best wishes

Nick Koutroumanos and his team provided treatment for me at the Royal Free Hospital, following my diagnosis of skin cancer of my lower eyelid area. Every stage of the process of treatment was undertaken to a standard of excellence and precision: from organising an operation with the best team, to the clear response to all of the queries I had and most importantly, to the operation itself and the aftercare. After a smooth recovery, the final results have surpassed my expectations – the precise skill undertaken by Nick means the skin below my eye is smooth and exactly follows my facial contours.
A major advantage to the procedure selected by Nick is that all of the cancer can be guaranteed to be removed. This was crucial for me as my sister needed a repeat operation to the same facial area, to have all of her skin cancer removed.
I am very grateful that the results have been so aesthetically pleasing, and that the whole process was so effective and professionally managed!

My cataract and blepharoplasty operations have been a resounding success. with my eyelids lifted, my daughter tells me I look ten years younger. It’s as if I have had a mini facelift. Dr K is a lovely man, an amazing surgeon and also a miracle worker.

When I found Mr Koutroumanos I had already endured a year of issues with several lesions around my eyes, bad surgeries and constant worry. The psychological impact is hard for people to understand unless they’ve experienced it. Having thought you’ve found experts to operate on you then realising they haven’t performed with the necessary care or knowledge is unnerving. I have probably been a pain to deal with at times but Mr Koutroumanos has restored my faith in the medical profession, he’s been unwaveringly supportive and kind, he operated on a cyst under my eye with the most meticulous precision and I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone in need of a good occuloplastic surgeon. Too many surgeons in this field seem to be risk adverse unless there is a large sum of money attached and unwilling or unable to perform smaller surgeries. Some of the biggest names in this field are extremely profit driven and unsympathetic, Mr Koutroumanos is a very marked exception. A true gentleman and exceptional surgeon.
